For a dashcam, don't select a microSD card only based on its storage capacity. A dashcam continuously records, overwrites old footage and may operate for several hours in a hot car. Therefore, high-endurance microSD cards are recommended.

For Full HD (1080p) dashcams

We recommend using a High Endurance microSD card, Class 10 / U1 or better.

A U3/V30 High Endurance card is also perfectly fine and gives you additional performance headroom.

For 4K dashcams

For 4K recording, use a High Endurance microSD card, Class 10 with U3 / V30 or higher.

U3 means the card is rated for a minimum sustained write speed of 30 MB/s, while V30 indicates a minimum sustained video write speed of 30 MB/s. This makes U3/V30 cards a safer choice for high-bitrate 4K video recording.

Why High Endurance?

Dashcams are different from normal cameras. They continuously write and overwrite data, sometimes 24×7. Ordinary microSD cards can wear out faster under this type of workload.

High Endurance cards are specifically designed for continuous recording applications such as dashcams and CCTV cameras.

Recommended memory cards

For Full HD:

  • Samsung PRO Endurance
  • SanDisk High Endurance
  • SanDisk Max Endurance

For 4K:

  • Samsung PRO Endurance
  • SanDisk High Endurance
  • SanDisk Max Endurance

For 4K, we recommend choosing U3 / V30 High Endurance cards whenever supported by the dashcam.

Important: Check the dashcam manual

Do not assume that a 256GB card will work just because it is faster or more expensive.

Always check the maximum supported microSD capacity and required card specification mentioned in your particular dashcam's user manual.

For example, if the manual specifies:

microSD: Class 10, U3, up to 128GB

then use a 128GB or smaller U3/Class 10 card. Using a higher-capacity card than the manufacturer supports can result in recording errors, card detection problems or corrupted footage.

Our simple recommendation

Full HD → Class 10 / U1 or better + High Endurance

4K → Class 10 / U3 / V30 + High Endurance

Most important → Follow the maximum capacity and specification mentioned in your dashcam's user manual.

We recommend Samsung PRO Endurance or SanDisk High Endurance for most dashcam applications.
